lyrics

Another dawn, another day
Another wind to fly away
Dreams were always far away, my dear

If I'm the kite, then you're the string
You hold me down, you let me sing
But I am lost on painted wings
And you can't ground me

But the wind picks up across the foam
And rumbles through the bones of home
Hazy nights and easy dreams
Are not what they seem

You might be surprised: how easy it can be
The girl you think you know is not the one I see
And we skirt around each other
Like two kites out on the breeze

But now the cold invades my lungs
Steals the words I've never sung
The wind has tossed me so far-flung:
The ocean's cold, my love

And all the blueprints I designed
Skin and bones and painted lines
I've forgotten how to find
The wind beneath my wings

But the wind picks up across the foam
And rumbles through the bones of home
Hazy nights and easy dreams
Are hardly what they seem

You might be surprised: how easy it can be
You only have to ask, and you can come with me:
And we'll skirt around each other
Like two kites out on the breeze
Out on the breeze

Among a thousand paper kites
Rising up towards the light
If you want to keep me close
You'd better hold me tight
